You are speculating without facts--there was no "outflanking" of the
Greek army, since Salamis was a naval battle.

If your old man and the Soviets (mostly the Soviets) had not defeated
Hitler in WWII, would Europe have been so bad under Nazi rather than
Red rule? Probably not, some say, as the Nazi economic machine was
burning out and Hitler would have died eventually, and his ideology
(supported by only 33% of the German people) with him. So your old
man and the 101st Airborne's Big Red unit did wrong fighting with the
Soviets against the Germans, some would argue, as it promoted Stalin's
reign for another 45 years until the late 1980s, and Commie rule was
worse, unless you were a Jew, than Nazi rule.
